Rebecca Craver
Age
I am 29 years old.
Occupation
Ordained into the Moravian Church in 2007, I have served Edgeboro Moravian Church, the Moravian Board of World Mission, and currently work in church development in Indianapolis.
Hometown
I am a preacher's kid from Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Education
I went to the University of North Carolina in Asheville, NC. I received a BA in Psychology and a BA in Spanish. I was fortunate to study abroad in Granada, Spain. I found the experience of college to be eye-opening to a world that was far different than I expected. I love learning about the things that make us diverse and the ways that human beings can find unity in the
differences. I continued my education at Moravian Theological Seminary where I received a Master's of Divinity.
Faith Background
I grew up in the Moravian Church and developed a great love and passion for sharing the Good News of Christ through living intentionally as Jesus did. I have been inspired to find new and renewed ways to experience the love of God and to share my faith with others. I have been fortunate to travel to some beautiful and exciting places to meet other Christians and Moravians whose experience of God has been different than my own. As we discovered the ways that
God’s Story guided us all we also saw a future of hope and possibility to share this great love through the works of our hands and the dreams in our hearts. I am passionate about God’s welcoming and inclusive embrace of all people and about rising to the challenge of Christ-like living.
Why are you at Lockerbie Central?
I am involved with Lockerbie Central/Earth House because I find myself challenged by the community that gathers here. I share values and passions for justice, peace, and community building. At LC/EH I have been inspired to move beyond my own comfort level and to grow as I work to live more like Jesus. I find resonance in my heart with the mission, people and hope of LC/EH.
Books on Faith that Changed My Life
Practicing the Way of Jesus, Mark Scandrette
The Irresistible Revolution, Shane Claiborne
The Shaping of Things to Come, Michael Frost and Alan Hirsch
What's exciting you right now?
I have found in my 29 years that God takes me in many directions that I have never imagined.
I am not sure where I will end up but I do know that as I attend to God's leading I find
relationships, love and hope for the future. So wherever I am going I will follow in Jesus
footsteps to get there and that's all I can ask for.
Community Involvement
